Each Protector's Job
Filter drier: traps moisture, debris and acid - prevents ice blockage and corrosion.
Accumulator: prevents liquid refrigerant returning to the compressor (slugging).
Oil separator: guarantees compressor oil return and prevents oil-loss wear.
Receiver: stabilizes refrigerant supply and stores charge for service.
Sight glass: shows refrigerant state and moisture content at a glance.
What Happens Without Them
Without a filter drier, moisture hydrolyzes the lubricant, generates acid and corrodes windings - compressor life drops sharply. Without an accumulator, slugging can break valve plates directly. Without an oil separator, the compressor runs low on oil, with abnormal noise and temperature rise.
Protective components are the system's safety belts: invisible in normal times, they save the whole machine at critical moments.
How They Work Together
Protectors do not work alone: the filter drier keeps the system clean, the oil separator protects the compressor oil circuit, and the accumulator protects compressor safety - together they guard the heart of the system. Sizing them to the system specification gives the best result.
