The oil separator sits at the compressor discharge and separates lubricating oil entrained in the hot, high-pressure refrigerant gas, returning it to the crankcase so the compressor always has enough oil. Kilterra KW/OVS oil separators offer high separation efficiency and reliable oil return - standard protection for screw, piston and heat pump systems.
Materials and Manufacturing
Shells are spun from quality steel plate or welded from steel tube; internal mesh is stainless steel, oil- and corrosion-resistant. Welding uses nitrogen shielding; every unit passes pressure and leak tests.
Quality Checkpoints
- Size by compressor displacement and line diameter; capacity must match the system
- Choose pressure rating and materials by refrigerant (R32/R290 need higher rating)
- For low-temperature heat pumps choose models with oil heating or high-efficiency return
- For parallel compressor banks verify oil return capacity
Quality FAQ
- How often does an oil separator need maintenance? - Check oil return and level yearly.
- What does oil return line temperature tell you? - Warm is normal; cold means poor return.
- Can an oil separator solve all oil-loss problems? - No; line slope and return design must work together.
- Do R32 systems need different separators? - Yes, higher pressure rating.
For 37 years Kilterra has focused on one thing: build refrigeration components right, deliver them on time. Oil Separator supports OEM/ODM customization - factory visits, sample testing and volume partnerships are welcome.
