The Full Component Chain

A refrigeration system is built on four core parts - compressor, condenser, expansion valve and evaporator - plus protective and auxiliary components such as the filter drier, receiver, accumulator, oil separator and sight glass. Every part has its own job: the compressor compresses refrigerant, the condenser rejects heat, the expansion valve meters pressure, the evaporator absorbs heat; the filter drier removes moisture and debris, the oil separator returns oil, and the accumulator prevents liquid slugging. A failure in any link affects performance and service life of the whole machine.

The Selection Mainlines

Selection starts with three mainlines. First, capacity matching: the heat exchange area of condenser and evaporator must match compressor capacity. Second, duty matching: evaporating and condensing temperatures determine compressor model and component pressure class. Third, refrigerant matching: R22, R410A, R32 and R290 place completely different demands on pressure rating and materials.

Fix these three mainlines, then check ports, dimensions and installation space item by item - and the whole system selection becomes clear.

Never Save on Protection

Some projects cut costs by omitting the filter drier or fitting an undersized one. Problems do not show in the short term, but long-term failure rates rise sharply. A filter drier costs a few dollars; a compressor costs hundreds - the money saved on protection is far less than one rework.
