The condenser is the radiator of the refrigeration system, cooling the compressor's hot high-pressure gas back into liquid. Common Faults and Diagnosis
- High-pressure shutdown - dirty fins or fan failure

Prevention
- Clean fins regularly - dust blockage directly causes high-pressure shutdown
- Check fan operation and capacitors
- Water-cooled systems: descale regularly and check water quality
- In corrosive environments inspect fin and tube corrosion
Diagnostic Approach
Air-cooled finned type: refrigerant runs in copper tubes, aluminum fins enlarge the heat dissipation area, and a fan forces convection. Tube-type: refrigerant flows inside tubes while water or air exchanges heat outside. Tank type: refrigerant-to-water heat exchange happens inside a compact, efficient tank. Efficiency depends on fin spacing, tube layout and material corrosion protection.
