The compressor is the heart of a refrigeration system. Kilterra supplies BFS semi-hermetic piston compressors and YBF4 condensing units for medium/low-temperature cold rooms, display cabinets and industrial refrigeration. Semi-hermetic construction is serviceable; units are highly integrated and easy to install.
Common Faults and Diagnosis
- Compressor slugging - suction line design or accumulator issue
- High-temperature trip - poor heat rejection or abnormal refrigerant
- Oil loss and wear - poor oil return
- Frequent short-cycling - pressure switch setting or system fault
Prevention
- Check oil level and oil return regularly
- Clean condenser fins
- Inspect electrical contacts and protection devices
- Monitor discharge temperature and pressure
Diagnostic Approach
A semi-hermetic piston compressor integrates motor and compression in one body: refrigerant gas enters the cylinder through the suction valve, is compressed by the piston and discharged to the high side. A condensing unit packages compressor, condenser and receiver into one skid - connect an evaporator and lines and you have a complete system.
